I Wish To Die

I Wish To Die

A Poem by Essy Mazid
"

A poem inspired by war.

"

I wonder what it’s like

To be shot in the light

To embrace the pain

And go insane

To lose your soul

To lose your life

To ask yourself

Am I gone now?

I wish that was me

I wish it was

Because I am the one that feels the need

The need to die

The need to sigh

Not the need to cry

Nor the need to pry

To pry for something that has already died

A large house

For a young girl

The house is mine

And the girl is me

Ever thought of how lonely it would be?

I watched up close

I watched too shocked

I watched as my parents shed blood on the spot

Now my heart has a hole

A hole that is sore

And my heart as a scar

That will haunt me near or far

I want to forget

Forget and Forgive

Forget my past

And forgive the war

The war that caused my pain to start

The war that killed my parents’ verve

I wish to die

I wish to die

Not to cry

Nor to pry

To pry for something that has already died
