Open the Door

Open the Door

A Poem by thebigtrippie
"

emotional abandonment

"

I made you a room
It’s beauty doesn’t need any influence but yours
Your absence is your only flaw
I made you a room
I hope you like it
Do you like it?
But where should I go
When no one is home to let me in?

The metaphor in this one is powerful. All we can do is prepare an inviting space for others and if no one takes the room we are locked out. Deeper yet if people have left home, so to speak, through emotional coldness or mental disability we can not get in. This would have particular meaning to someone taking care of a loved one with dementia. A heart rending and deeply felt poem
