The Musician

The Musician

A Poem by thebigtrippie
"

My authentic self

"
I am a musician
Homegrown concert,
Yet nobody pays attention
The crowd hasn't arrived,
And my music may be hard to listen
But when I tune in my dark cedar green coat
I wish somebody would pay attention,
And hear the things I wrote

There's an old Greek story about a guy who saw his own face in a stream or something, and fell in love with himself. Meanwhile, he had a (presumably lovely) admirer just longing for him to turn around and look at her!

I think that story touches on our need to see ourselves in the eyes of another, as if we are each a part of the universe looking in on itself. And sharing the love there.
It's a beautiful thing.
And so is your poem, "the musician". It strikes a chord in me and you have found resonance.
Nice work.
