Crickets

Crickets

A Poem by thebigtrippie

Everyone leaves if they get the chance.
Since you’ve been gone, silence at a glance

People always seem to have something big and important waiting for them,
and it feels like somehow
I missed it.

I thought we could’ve been forever;
you just wanted us together
for a snippet.

So until then,
I’ll lay on my silent bare Earth
and think to the occasional call
of just a few
crickets.

Quiet and tender. The ache is simple, honest, and it lingers in the best way.
