A Poem by The Nameless

A poem about social networking - why do we spend so much time on it?

Many hours gone to waste
For a simple copy and paste
A message spread from one to another
An inspiring quote for a lover

We read, share and like
All the things on our social networking

A thousand fake friends
All looking for something interesting

We look for love and sympathy
Recognition and rather more simply
Some kind of understanding
Beyond our world and daily living

But in the end this drop in the ocean
A moment's worth hand-and-mouse motion
Does not mean much to the world itself
But to us it show that our life is worth living

It doesn't really matter where you go on the Internet. It seems everyday is still high school for some people. They will sink knives into the backs of anyone they think stands in their way of being King or Queen of the Internet Prom.

I'm not into the whole social networking thing (I think everyone is a secret serial killer), but I know people like this! My friends spend way too much time "chatting" to people they haven't even met in real life.

Unfortunately, while I spend countless hours sitting on every major social media website there is, I find a lack of searching for understanding haha.

Nowadays all social networking has become (at least for younger generations), is a gateway drug to hardcore narcissism.

Although I guess in order to feel alive in such a sea of celebrity-ridden culture, we need heavier and heavier doses of self-adornment. Kind of sad.

Great write though haha.
