I Denounce The Heavens!

Pondering, that's all..

I denounce the heavens!

To what point or purpose we exist?

What rules we follow for fear of damnation?

I spite those who abide them out of cowardice.

 

Live this life for this life only,

Not for what could be beyond it.

Should our journey never end, what then?

 

A universe in a jar only seemingly large,

For a time, this space is ours.

Yet, before us, what survived?

 

We are not the beginning, nor the end

We’re not to fail, or to ascend.

Only live with an open eye,

And accept that all must live and die.

This was good! I liked the structure. The whole poem flowed well. I liked the last stanza the best. It said the most to me.
