Saving DaylightA Poem by AveryHow dare you rob me of my daylight?
You dare rob me of my daylight? What more can you steal And call it fate My glorious Sun, glowing ball of heat Finally one that shines Brings radiance to the days Did you know me in all the years As one who enjoys returning in the pits of the night Or have you not looked my way for a while I already feel black shadows Feasting on my soul, crawling within the skin What is left to warm the withering self but Thee Now I'll bet you want Her all to yourself While musing upon my disdain as I wake too late for my lovely Sunrise He who thinks himself so clever Yet I'll deem you foolish You see, there's magic up my sleeve Only if I turn the hour hand back It will be quite clear You'll not have bested me
