Lifting The Veil

Question asked to me, by a nurse.

"

You
Ask me
If I have noticed
Any difference
Since starting estrogen.


Honestly
And truthfully
Taking estrogen has
Only fine tuned
My emotions.


Real
Change began
Years before.


When
Unconsciously
I began
Transitioning.


Whereas
Living my life
As a male
Taught to "suck it up"
Suppressing my emotions
Considered "unmanly".


Well meaning
But misguided belief
Which only
Hurt me.


Even now
I struggle
With my past.
