Why It Is

Why I write.

You
Tell me
I must leave
The darkness behind
By writing lighter subjects.

Yet
You do not understand
Why I write
In the first place.

When
In the past
Repression
And suppression
Were how I dealt
With traumatic events.

Only now
My subconscious mind is
Opening the doors
Of my past
To face.

Whether
Or not
I feel ready
To handle these memories
At this moment.
