A Glimpse Inside

A Glimpse Inside

A Poem by therisa
"

Part of what makes me, tick.

"

Hear

Your words

Telling me to

Look at the brighter

Side of life.

Yet

Most of my life

Darkness has

Surrounded me

In His embrace.

Adopting

A style of humour

That's often

A mixture of gallows

And sarcastic humour

To protect me.

As

The tears flow

Silently

Down my soul.

While

Hiding the pain

Where no one else

Can see it

Except me.

As

These barriers

Of mine

Are collapsing

Fast around me.

Exposing

The emotional landmines

Which I hidden

So long ago.

As

I must walk across

No Man's Land

To reach safely

The lands of healing.

Hoping

During this sojourn

That the minimum landmines

Are detonated

By me.
