Getting Ready To Smile

Getting Ready To Smile

A Poem by therisa

Psst

Do not say it

Too loud.

But

I think

Spring is

Finally

Here.

No

More need

To bundle oneself

In multiple lays.

Until

Our appearance

Resemble the Michelin man

Of TV commercial

Fame.

As

A warming sun

Beams down

Upon the half-frozen

Earth.

Removing

The last traces

Of it's disposable

White blanket.

Alas

Ole Man Winter

Is never one

To give up

Without a fight.

Temperatures

Hovering near or at

The freezing mark.

As

Ole Man Winter

Shares with us

His frigid smile.

A

Frozen reminder

Of his grasp

Upon the land.

Soon to be

A distant memory

As the sun bakes

The land.
