All That Glitters, Is Not Gold

All That Glitters, Is Not Gold

A Poem by therisa

Why

Today

Of all days

Do I feel

So blue?

When

A bright sun

That dominates

The early Spring

Sky.

Promising

So much love

And growth

If you took care

To look around.

After

A long Winter

Which found me

Trapped inside.

Yet

With Spring's arrival

I find myself

Struggling to keep

My attention focused

On anything.

Preferring

To hideaway

Within the walls

Of my apartment.

Where

My soul is

Offered comfort

From the wider world

Around me.

Knowing

This places me

One step closer

To another bout

Of depression.

Sigh.

wow, this is heavy...

spring is the time for rebirth...but this reminds me of william carlos williams" "the widow's lament in springtime"

i don't care if it's spring and getting warmer...i feel colder inside and don't want to come out of my hibernation...depression does that...i know, i have felt this poem many times.
