Grocery Shopping

Grocery Shopping

A Poem by therisa

Once

A month

You come

Like a painful boil

I must endure.

No

Way exists

To avoid you.

And

Tomorrow is

My day of dread.

Of

Standing

In long line-ups

With the other suffering

Souls.

Before

You quip at me

"How about shopping

Over the Internet"

For my needs.

To

Which I say

No.

As

A person

Living a fixed income

Where every penny

Is very important.

Hoping

To stretch my money

Throughout the month

Without having to ration

Food.
