Gothic Gloom

Gothic Gloom

A Poem by therisa

Could you

Please turn down

Your lights.

Or

Please dim

them?

For

They are

Hurting my eyes

With their brightness.

You see

I have lived

Most of my life

With hyper photosensitivity.

Forced

To seek shelter

Behind tinted glasses

And hats.

From a world

Which values brightness

Over common sense.

As

The headaches builds

And the tears rolls

Do I seek relief.

In

A world

Most would call

Too dark

And isolated.

Yet

For me

It has become

A matter of survival

In a hostile environment.

So

If you do not

Lower your lights

I will continue

To wear these shades

Before you.

sometimes it hurts to be around people who seem nothing but happy, especially when we are hurting...but then most times those people are in denial.

i like the gothic image you put to this very real, and ordinary feeling...

we all have our "Poe" moments i believe...bleak world...and we don't want to let anyone else in.
