Removing Burrs

Removing Burrs

A Poem by therisa

Why

Do I carry

Within my soul

These destructive words

From my childhood?

These

Corrosive

Auditorial flashback.

Which

Berates me

With their homophobic

And transphobic slurs.

From a time

I was questioning my gender

And sexual orientation.

Even now

I have trouble

Placing these flashbacks

Into their proper place.

Where

They exist

As distant memories

And nothing more.

Thus

Removing

The emotional barbs

I have carried.

For far

Too long

Inside of me.

Thank you, Moon. It has been a very long journey, to reach this part of my healing.
the usage of your words following that title just wonderful
to get rid of a burr -our childhood not so happy memories that really is a good metaphor truly
even now-I do not like that for you
let us pick away
thank you so as always you have shared yourself in your words
