Why Do I Disturb You?
A Poem by therisa
Trying to understand homophobia and transphobia.
Why do I Make you feel Hatred and anger Towards me? Having never met Face to face Or even talked To each other. Yet These feeling Persist for you Irrationally. Do I challenge Your lily-white vision Of gender And sexuality? Spoonfed to you From your mother's milk As a child growing up Wherever you live. If you expected A violent Or angry reaction From me. Think again For it will be A very frosty day In Hell Before that happens. Rather I pity you Unable to grow And share your love With others.

~ i experience this anguish... i wouldn't use the word "pity" though... it's a sadness... at the failure of the education system all over the world... it's just so heartbreaking to bump into a prejudice of this nature... i iterate and reiterate my stand and then leave the scene...
