Reclaiming One Day At a TimeA Poem by therisaMoving onThis year's Canada Day is Mine! Do you hear me Mom? No more sulking In mourning For a family Lost. Seven bleeping years You have held me A captive of my own heart On the faint hope Of being accepted. No more. In my heart Your grave marker bears July 1, 2006 As your date of death. After my accidental Outing to you On that date. Hope You do not expect me To lay flowers Upon your grave Mom. For none Will grace it From me. Turning my attention To more important things On this holiday. As I join others In the public celebration Of Independence. Knowing This year's fireworks Will be extra bright For me. © 2013 therisa |
