Until Next Year

Until Next Year

A Poem by therisa
"

A mini heat wave after several weeks of unusually cold weather to end May.

"

Sigh.

Another scorcher

And kilometres to walk

Before the sun's set

Upon the day.

As sweat pools

Around my body

In sticky wet clothes

And a mop

For hair.

Fragments of

Martha and the Vandal's song

Heat Wave

Swamp all other thoughts

From my fried mind.

Waiting for

That magical day

When my apartment's A/C is

Freed from its winter shackles

And turned on.

But today is

Just another day

As I try to finish

My running around

Before the sun reaches

Its zenith

In the late May sky.

After a month

Of unseasonably cold

And wet weather.

Such

Is Spring

For southern Ontario.

Never sure

How the weather will be

From one day

To the next.

As I bid adieu

To this fair month

On the calendar

For another year.
