Pledge Of Independence
A Chapter by therisa
My reaction to those nations that have passed laws that make being a LGBT person, a criminal act.
Never againShall my head hang In shame For whom I am.
Knowing the worse Humanity can do To others.
For no prison cage Will contain my soul Behind iron bars Forged in hate.
Your laws Can imprison me For being myself Even kill me.
But never Shall the spirit Which inhabits my body Be bottled up.
Rather Liberated In the glory of love And understanding.

I am happy to read the heart of a person accepting their own soul. We must learn to love ourselves for the beauty we posses.
This feels like an epiphany for the writer.
