On Borrowed Time
A Poem by therisa
Extreme insomnia
MorpheusWhat have I done To anger you So?
That you have abandoned me In my silent suffering Night after night.
As the circles grow From a faint outline To become A raccoon's mask Surrounding my eyes.
But I am not A nighttime thief
Who works In the dark.
Rather A gentle soul Seeking release Shall you grant it.
Able to dream Such dreams My heart flutters In the glorious rapture Of pure bliss.
As my body And soul travel The long road To health.
But I need you Morpheus To grant this wish Of mine.
Please return With your sands Of sleep.

Some nights, I find myself, unable to fall asleep, thus spend that night, lost in my own thoughts.
