Changing Season
A Poem by therisa
just thoughts being expressed
An early fall shiver Runs through my body Summer's last hurrah Fades away Into the night sky. As the last sunset Dissolves before me Leaving behind Melancholy memories Of "what could haves" But never happened. Feeling the tug Of disappointment And bitter resentment Over a summer Spent indoors With agoraphobia. Wondering What happened To trigger My latest bout Of agoraphobia. Three years have past Since last major bout Left me Paralyzed For several months. My feet move Through the fallen leaves From nearby trees. Each crunch Sounds the premature death Of a dream and hope I had for myself. Marking the end Of another season Which my growth Has been stopped Before it's time. As the season of tears Awaits it turn Upon my cycle of seasons Marking my annual calendar.

Wow! this was sad! When I first started reading I thought it was about the changing of seasons, maybe that was part of it. It must be awful to have that fear inside you to step outside into the fresh air! I could actually feel the fear itself!

As for the emotional impact, I don't feel it, as most of the time, I disassociate when I am writing poems, as a form of self-protection.
