Dark Mutterings
A Poem by therisa
Release some darkness.
A road taken At random Without realizing it Until too late.
A dream dreamt Which tortures One's soul In an endless loop.
Hope A four letter word Uttered by people As a curse word.
Faith An epithet used To deride the dreamer And their aspirations.
As the soul flaps Like a tattered flag In the wind.
Barely Hanging on By mere threads To the body.
Seeking release Which never come To those Who want it.

You capture the struggle of holding onto hope and keeping faith while the cold winds of indifference blow. You've got great imagery in this piece. It is very powerful.

I don't know, where this poem can't from, except, I'm struggling with seasonal depression. Often, during the early stages, my muse finds inspiration that produces poems, like this.
