Trapped In A Bubble
A Poem by therisa
I do not understandWhy some TranswomenFeel the need to beMore feminineThen cis-women are. While my wearing of jeansIs somehow a betrayalOf our causeWhich we are acceptedBy othersAs women.YetIf one was toTake a quick lookYou will seeWomen of all typesWearing jeansFeeling totally feminineWhile doing so.Why the double standardWith regardsTowards me?Is itThey feel uncomfortableIn their abilityTo present themselvesAs women?Or something elseMuch deeperThen I will everUnderstand.Either wayThis imposition of feminineOn Transwomen is wrongFor there isNo one set definitionOf what it meansTo be feminine.RatherEach woman hasHer own definitionOf what it meansTo her.

That seems like a rather odd position to be in. I'm a woman and I live in jeans, polo-shirts, rugby tops and other similar things yet I still feel like a woman. It's just part of where I live and the job I do. I have ample curves and wouldn't be mistaken for a male even if I'm wearing what may be considered more masculine clothing. A nice pair of jeans can be very flattering on a woman, plus they're practical!
My understanding of the situation was that you are to be a woman. As such you should act and feel the same way those of us born this way do. I don't quite get why there would be a need to push things and go hyper-feminine; especially into today's society where women don't dress in traditionally feminine manners that much.
The habbit for people to lay down set little boxes and ridiculous rules and concepts irritates me no end! People should pull together and help each other not try and make them feel even more ostracised!

A pre-op transwoman, writing about my experiences, using free verse. Been told my poems are very emotional and personal, almost like a diary entry in verse.
