Infected

I keep my scars
under a veil
and lock them up
in a solitary cage
where no hope or
glint of light
can penetrate
I seal them
with dark gates of fate
The viruses
brew and multiply
but are electrocuted
when they try to escape
They choke to death
falling apart
polluting my soul
with haunted past
the poisonous gas
blackens its walls
contaminating
the blocked path
the infection slowly
rises in the air
the toxic lava
harden the affair
The secrets I once buried
has tainted my heart
and have turned me into
a cursed black spot

Author's Note

We all have a secret that lies buried inside which nobody knows about. But it poisons the very corner of the soul where it hides. It brings out our dark shades in limelight. This random words came out during one such time.

WOW, I remember a friends poem in your style, miss Seasonal. I am amaze with this piece on how the imagery blows your imaginations. The high tension of the soul's pain, 'the dark gates of fate'... what a lines. Simply stunning. I can't say more, I am speechless on how deep and profound this is. Great!

Your speak of the so called skeletons in our closet. They are good in the sense that they made us who we are now but they are not to be kept forever because they can hold grudges and like cancer, they will slowly eat us alive. We need to learn to forgive ourselves for the things we have done, for those we haven't done. Your poem hits close to home.

I agree, we are shaped by them. I do understand that grudges are best let open. But personally I feel some just can't. Some pain have to be endured by the heart, not because we can't/don't let go, but because they look best hidden inside, not adding complexity to our already complex life :)
