Chapter 7

the king arrivals (warning Izumi name has changed into Jokai)

Higure is watching Jokai very carefully, Jokai widens his wings and shows the crowd his long tail.

“Did you know this was a dragon town along?” Higure says with a plain voice.

“Yes, well I guessed,” Jokai says turning back into a human. The guard take Higure back to jail while everyone starts to suck up to Jokai. Half an hour later Yuki comes and talks with Higure

“I’m not practising dark magic anymore,” she says giving a book to Higure.

“That’s fine, you didn’t like it in the first place. Do you know where Sora is?” Higure says looking at Yuki’s sad face.

“Well, he wanted to safe you. Then his father locked him in his room. He can get out now, but his a bit angry about you telling us Jokai was your fiancé.” Yuki says giving her a cold look.

“Well, I tried to the truth but Jokai was too good at acting,” Higure says sitting up on the bed.

“You mean Jokai did it of his own free will” Yuki says

“Yes, he did it without me even asking, but this means I have to go to the castle now.” Higure says rubbing her back. The guard comes in and says

“Times up,” and Yuki has to leave the jail. Higure just sits there for a while and then she sees a carriage out her window, a huge dragon comes out and it’s the king. Jokai walks up to him and starts talking, Higure angry he didn’t tell her sooner looks away and sit there until the guard walks in again. It’s Sora and he’s not happy he walks up to her and says

“I heard that it wasn’t your idea to say that Jokai was your fiancé.” Sora says slowly

“Yeah, it was Izumi who did it, but i did play along so don’t just blame Jokai.” Higure says as someone walks down to the jail.  “The King,” Higure says standing up

“So you’re the one causing all this trouble. Jokai tells me just to let you go, but you and I both know that’s not the way it should be.” Hinote says looking at her “What’s your name?” he continues

“Higure, my name is Higure” she says bowing to Hinote. Hinote is shocked and just stands there “What I’m I meant to do, I can’t kill her, but if anyone even Jokai finds out I’m dead.”  He thinks to himself.

“What do you think I should do?” he says to Higure “I’m not going to kill you, but you still need to be made an example of.” He says trying not to lose his cool, Sora beside him is relieved that Higure isn’t going to die.

“How about a public whipping,” Higure says looking straight at the king “seeing as we have to be in human form a public whipping would be best.” The king sits down and laughs, but Sora doesn’t think it’s funny.

“Too think you would sagest something like that, I think I’ll like you.” Say the king “let’s get her ready.” He says to the guard. The king walks out of the jail taking Sora with him “Make sure she doesn’t cause any more trouble or next time I will kill her with my bear hands.” He says to Sora, Jokai walks up to them and asks

“Why haven’t you let her go yet?” Sora looks at him as if he’s going to kill him and his father.

“Because she needs to be made an example of” he says getting onto a big golden chair. “Higure will be whipped in public for your entertainment” the king says while she is being dragged out.

“Father please, it doesn’t have to be like these let her go” Jokai pleads with his father, but it’s too late by the time Jokai even gets any more sentence in Higure is on the platform ready to be whipped. The villages that supported her are locking themselves inside their houses’, while the ones who hated her are watching her as she gets whipped. After 10 whips Higure starts screaming in pain and that’s when both Jokai and Sora walk away.
