War is a Racket

If you hate war as much as me

And share my hope of what could be

Help raise a cheer for this new year

And write poem for peace!

I know it may not seem like much

But with our words I'm sure we'll touch

Each open heart who reads the art

Like you I too feel powerless

What can be done to end this mess?

The poet fights with words s/he writes

As often I forget to care

What happens 'them' way over there

But bloody war WE WANT NO MORE

For in each heart resides a dove

Just let is soar with words you love

Prefer to pine? Or brightly shine?

i firmly believe that the thoughts and emotions and the words that comprise any poem for peace will, somehow and ever so slightly, add and elevate the conscious vibrational matrix that connects us all. talking to others, speaking out, taking action also contribute to the change and transformation we want to see. unfortunately however, i dont see enough of it and the bad guys are still doing whatever they want with impunity. but the tide is rising!
