I Thirst for your Footsteps

I Thirst for your Footsteps

"
I long for the majestic
sunset of your hair,
windblown, dancing across my cheek…
The burnt orange and lavender…
I want to consume every drop.
I’m thirsty for your
footsteps near my bed, parched with
desire for your presence, your essence.
How long until you wet my
tongue, and quench this fire?
I stalk slumber like a shadow…
my only release from the
hunger and yearning for your
moist lips, like peaches
pressed against mine.

Sensual, oozes with sugar romance, takes the reader on a colorful ride. Poem flows smooth from start to end with every line piquing the interest more and more. Poetry in motion here. these lines stood out for me, "I stalk slumber like a shadow…
my only release from the
hunger and yearning for your
moist lips"
Thanks for sharing, Thomas. Enjoyed the write!

' I long for, moist lips pressed against mine. '
That thought alone creates a breathtaking mood.

This is beautiful and sensual, all at the same time.
There's a desire to be so close, for sure.

Your thoughts leave me in complete awe. : )

Thank you, Brandy, I appreciate it.
My favorite comparison is lips/peaces. This is the type thinking that is genuinely poetic,

Hello Thomas, I am 73, have outlived the two best women of my life. Though the body may grow old, it seems the heart does not. Your poem made so many memories surface, resurrected desires, what more could be said about excellent writing? Thank you (I think). Michael Sun Bear

my pleasure Thomas.
“Footsteps,” an approach, a return, a coming after… such elation of proximity!

Thank you, Glenda. I appreciate it.
Sensual indeed. Footsteps can be pretty loud, even barefoot, when they are anticipated enough. ~Jim

Thank you.
I might be projecting, but I get sort of a withheld-confession-of-a-secret-love vibe with which I deeply resonate. Maybe one day, we'll taste the peaches. Till then, we'll relish in the fantasy.

Thank you so much.
Very nice!
I did like the sensuality of the piece, the longing for requite.
The fire on your tongue and expecting, hoping, thirsting for it to be quenched.
Beautiful!
