Cold and Raw

Cold and Raw

A Poem by Thomas W Case

"
That bubble of a moon is
playing peek-a-boo behind
the wispy night sky.
Confirming to me
everyone's lunacy.
Words stick to the
roof of my mouth
like peanut butter.
It could have been
a better world,
I should have been a
better man.

January snowflakes
are like guilt falling from
the sky.
little frozen starfish...
cold and raw on
the soul, and tongue.

The poem paints regret with lunar precision — that mix of guilt and wonder hanging in the night sky. Each image feels like it’s quietly melting into confession. There’s beauty in that self-awareness, even when it stings. Oddly enough, I found a similar strange comfort once while scrolling through https://jogo-do-tigrinho.org , chasing small sparks of distraction.

Beautiful use of imagery and metaphor here, Thomas. We all probably could have and should have done better, but it's all down the river now.

I agree. Thank you, my friend.
In a better world I should have been a better man...

We all carry that, man. Really well done.
