Love Fishing

"
I hope that
winter isn't
brutal this year.
Frozen souls.
Iced over minds.
Love swims deep
under the ice.
I hope I catch some.
My heart is the bait.
Sharp hook, as the
trumpets blast.

Clever use here of winter as a metaphor for consciousness. The speaker hopes for a milder season, where there are no "frozen souls" or "iced over minds." He reassures us that even if there is ice, love swims beneath it and he hopes to catch some of it. His heart is the bait. Let us all wish him an early thaw.

Great Work Thomas. I had a 'brutal winter' last year, but fortunately the weather in England was not actually too bad. Mustn't tempt fate tho' after the long hot Summer we have just enjoyed. Really Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Good to have you back Thomas ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
I love your use of nature, of winter, as a device for describing the human condition. It feels fresh to me, perhaps because, as I mentioned elsewhere, we have very mild winters here in Seattle; I would probably never have written Love swims deep under the ice. ( yeah, blame your lack of creativity MSB on the weather!) By the way, The Three Bells was a much favored tavern just a couple blocks from the office building where my wife and my best friends worked. You triggered some great memories.
