Get off the Bus

Get off the Bus

"
The barbarians and
cannibals are loose on
the streets, looking for
innocent hearts to eat.
The silly and simple sit
blindly, while we watch
their demise with
brutal and vivid vision.

Get off the train to
the animal factory,
and go right, to the
verdant pastures of
righteousness and
peace.

Thomas,
We are a race of Barbarians and cannibals, always have been, the evil in us just waiting in the darkness of our bellies. Poets, artists, thinkers are not the same because we know what to do with that force inside us that demands response to the Philistines we live among, so we paint, sculpt, think, and write so maybe they will see themselves and change. They never do.

Hard place to find my friend. I live in the Detroit area. A mix of people for many years. We get along. Powerful and worthwhile thoughts shared my friend.

Thank you, my friend.
Oooooooooh nice. I live in a... what you might call... a white ghetto in the urban Northeast, in New England... Lotsa drugs, lotsa anger... Lots of disturbed hearts out there on the streets. A soul sickness, you might say... or a political comment? Dark times, and so little to hope for for so many... anyways. Cheers, Tom.

Seems to me we should just stay on the bus. The streets these days are not safe...we have gotten to fear our own leaders.

So true. Thanks, my friend.
This is a curious piece, in that we are left to wonder who the barbarians and cannibals are. Ditto the silly and simple. The last verse gives the right directions to the rest of us, but it is up to us to understand how to follow them.
