"
When Summer's heat
gives way to
autumn's bliss,
I will kiss this
world goodbye
and walk to
the woods
to save
the last sliver
of my humanity,
where the creek
meets the river of
my destiny.
Far away from
the s****y city of
sick Streets
and broken
dreams.

Good morning Thomas. Your poem is short and bare of unnecessary explanation, beautiful in its simplicity. As a kid I spent much of every summer in the woods. I had to read your poem several times. I am pondering what you meant where you wrote “I will kiss this world goodbye.” On first read I took it to mean going to the woods to commit suicide. It would be a lovely, peaceful place to make the transition. But then I thought you simply meant saying goodbye to the city. Either way I get it. Every so often when the pain of my mess of a life feels too much, I long for those childhood days and nights in the woods.

This poem is a total mood and vibe for me. Sometimes I just want to escape this world. Maybe, it’s wanderlust, or just wanting to get life over with already. I've always watched stories on YouTube, about people who just go backpacking and leave everything behind. It's usually a tragic outcome. When I feel like this... it's good to step back, breathe..get some fresh air, even on your front porch... maybe make some calls to family or close friends or make new ones, or just have a nice drink and just make a toast to the moment, and drink it in... that we got through this day. And tomorrow is another day... happy light to you my friend. Stay hopeful.

Thank you so much, my friend.
Be careful, Thomas. I am an old mental health prescreener. There was a time when I might have seen a suicide threat in these words.

Not at all...I get tired of the city. Thank you for the kindness.
