Waking Up
A Poem by
Thomas W Case
Below is a link to my YouTube channel and Amazon Author Page where my books are available.
Still dark out. Brain lagging, like a beetle carrying a couch. Start pushed on the coffee machine. Strong, bitter aroma drifts from the kitchen.
B vitamins for focus.
Phone beeps. Cats meow. Body moves, Mind crawls.
First piss of the day. Check my reflection in the mirror to make sure I’m still here.
I just want to write. Want the work done. Snowy morning but I’ll shovel the lines first.

Blimey, I’m not a morning person unfortunately.
But.. However, I do like to write a decent review.
And this is an entertaining piece. Quite amusingly loud to the reader.
Too much going on for me, but it’s not a busy poem. Just a lot of describing of doing words as well as sounds.
Creative thinking at play. I like this. Extraordinary read.

I think I'll listen to Beethoven as I am now whenever I read your writes. You have that flavor. Even "the first piss of the day" works perfectly! lol.
Oh gosh, "a beetle carrying a couch" that's great!
(The spoon I stir my coffee and tea still has a funny flavor to me.)
My brother from a different mother. You're awesome

How is it that you matched my waking up experience almost perfectly? If it wasn't for the coffee I might stay in a trance until noon.

I hear you. Thanks for stopping by.
You got it bad Thomas - the deep need to write - and yr purple patch continues. I am usually awake by 4am. But these days I am not standing freezing at the Bus Stop at 7am, to attend @ Royal Mail by 8am. How I managed to do that for all those years, I really couldn't tell you. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Thank you, my friend.
As an insomniac I am typically awake very early and that is probably my favorite time to catch up on writers here . So here it is, early morning, reading your poem about mornings, a delight. “like a beetle carrying a couch” gave me a big smile; that image will stick with me a while.
