"
A long time
ago
when I was
a teenager,
I had a
wonderful,
tender-hearted
girlfriend.
She was patient.
I was wide
awake, and green
as a frog.

She said,
don't rub it so
hard, you will
hurt it.
Think of it as
a new toy you
discovered.
It's small, and
you need to be
careful.
It isn't a
pimple that
you are
trying to pop.

I can still smell
her hair, lilacs, and
pond water.
And on
gentle summer
nights, I hope someone
is being kind to
her love button.

Thank you for posting this. I love that you are a considerate man. Some guys can't talk about sex without getting dirty and while, yes, the dirt has its place, the straight road to a female's heart is a thoughtful one.
Now, let's talk about the more passionate road.
That button gets tougher there.
Great write, my friend.

Thank you. You are fantastic.
Fond memories of tender moments with a kind past lover and remaining warm embers of wishing her a return history of kindness. Lovely it leaves such a warm feeling

Most welcome, Thomas
The title creates interest. The style is simple and direct; the story told with honest self deprecation and humour. I liked the "pimple popping "analogy. The ending suggests that you hope life in general has been good to your long lost girlfriend.

I appreciate it. Thanks

I think we have all been there .. such cherished moments make for exquisite poetry and serve as the ink that keeps us feeling young when some of us are knocking on a bit .. Neville

I appreciate you.
Gentle, romantic, nostalgic. What’s not to like? Written from your softer side?

Thank you, my friend.
It may say something about my mentality, but I find myself wondering if that love button was emotional or physical. Either way, it makes for good memories.
