Surfing

Surfing

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya
"

I lived down south of California I wrote this to describe the life I lived when things change.

"
Life lets catch a wave,
Ride the ride be brave
Its another way to pass,
the time, just in day.
Sex, drugs and rocking roll,
Hippies, wing nuts and who knows.
Anytime and sometimes,
Its just in a day
Now its the old lady and me.
Beer, jeopardy and my girl,
We could never surf,
But the remote on the TV.
Its just another day.
To catch a wave, now.
That's ! Life.
Brian we will miss you!

Wow!
Thanks for sharing this Californian surf poem my WC friend...:)

This immediately evokes images of the sea, the sun and having fun.......I can feel the vibe here for sure....and I like the humour in the second half of the poem.....beer, jeopardy and my girl....surfing the remote control....

Great piece.....

I remember California: San Diego, LA, San Fran, Sacramento... The shore, beaches.

But I was a US Marine, and THAT was most unpopular. I still carry the music of the times in my soul.

Look back to the 60's and Brian Wilson, those were the days...."hippies, wingnuts and who knows".... now we are in a completely different scenario...TV has taken over our lives.. not the great recordings we knew...he as was great singer and the whole group....great tribute!!!

"Catch a wave and you're sittin' on top of the world."
Your poem is a partial tribute to Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.
Oddly enough only Dennis Wilson ever surfed and not that well. But they sure sang about it.
Jeopardy is on my list every day...I record and watch...trying to keep my brain from going dead.
Being from the sixties, I can really appreciate this poem...I love it.
the days of 45's and having to get up off the couch to change channels.
