like a new hat, like a new sole
in a different light, in a different hole
i was absract and left you sore
i bruised you, burned you, cut you off

you wore me in before my time
broken, overused; a short-lived life
you said i'd last until you'd leave
and left me, filthy on the street

you never really showed me off
i fit so oddly, i pressed my luck
avant-garde to your seasoned soul
you were tired; i had gotten old.
