CaughtA Poem by Tinasha LaRayéCaught in loveyou caught me gazing and I caught you catching me. both caught in a conscious moment and you were all I was thinking of. clipped in a sonnet we rhythmically flowed like meters rhyming every other couplet, chins turning every other moment to encourage curious eyes to search for a matching desire. holding air and exhaling every other smile, caught on the inhale and I forgot I had breath. heart pounding as if found like a thief stealing a glance of your essence you turn and freely place in my pupil. your searching fixed on my wonder; both glance both stuck abandoning mother’s lessons of the forbidden stare and wanting to be nowhere but in this state of stupor. until you spoke and I replied. my iambic heartbeat writing a future. my mind praying you do not hear my telltale thumping, rippling and latching hold to my tremble. and that was yesterday and months later I cup hand to phone to silence the ever-present telltale rhythm. caught in our story eclipsed only by our yawn fading eyelids catch hypnosis catch dreams and you are there and I am caught again.
escaping is far from my mind. © 2012 Tinasha LaRayé |
