my heart is still with my students...many of them struggling in poverty, victims of traumatic abuse, in foster care, or looking for a sense of belonging in gangs...
in your scream, scraping i can hear your heart shattering who will save you, little one from time pitter pattering on your door and lift you from your knees, worn beaten down by the life your ma handed you and your daddy rested in your lap? who will take it all back and give you a fighting chance?
Who will save a black child? Truly, still in our contemporary black society, many children are suffering, many are abandoned on the streets...who will save them?
I love this. It's emotional, sad, and true. I grew up in Bronx, NY so I pretty much imagined this whole poem as I was reading it. Nicely penned :)
