& it wasn't what I'd thought it'd be
everyone
sitting around
soaking in her memory
drinking in the melodies
of blues & jazz
& sorrow
the pain heavy
but the silence
heavier
hanging in the pinging conversations
irrelevant to the situation
& rank with alcohol
breath strong from alcohol
the murderer welcomed in
& given a spot at the table
Damn memories
why do you hurt so bad?
