Because Of You

A poem that I recently found, I had written it in '07, when I was at one of my lowest points...

I drown out your voice,
with music so sweet,
can't take the pain inside,
and so I cheat.

I drag it out,
with each swipe of the blade,
a steady stream of blood,
with every cut that I made.

I reveled in the ecstasy of the pain,
the more wounds I made, the more the room span,
my hidden pleasure, my private shame,
You ask why I do it,
I say "because I can."

Because of you,
my arm smiles wider than my face,
it's fucked up, true,
I'm nothing but wasted space.

So cut me open,
bleed me dry,
beat me blue and black,
just don't ask why.

Because of you, I am here.
Because of you I live a lie.
Because of you I shed my crimson tears.
Because of you I want to die.

Heh, this would make an interesting song if you match it with the right music. ;)

Nice job. :) I'm impressed by the amount of apathy in here, and above all, I love the imagery and the bit of "empty emotion" you present to the reader. It sounds very... authentic.
