Hardly the Dead of NightA Poem by Riley JustineBecause her suffering is but little...She looks at the mirror And smiles kindly at herself But only she can see the hate. It harbours in her eyes, Never noticed behind her disguise. She goes out of her way To apply the makeup that so cleverly hides What she believes no one else will want to see. But little does she know, How tiny is her foe... No one tells her it could be worse. No one says she could be starving. Although she feels like she is dying Death is no where to be seen. She needs to stop thinking she's so keen; Privileged is what she is. She has nothing to hurt her So she hurts herself. So blessed that just a few drops of rain Could wash away her pain.
