Dedication

Dedication

A Poem by true_real_kevin
"

One day, I was walking by a book store and saw so many new books and how sad they all look. Just sitting there, alone. I like used books more than new ones.

"
When I see you, I want to open the cover
and read each chapter.
Run my index finger along every sentence
you keep inside those pages.
From the dedication to the index and footnotes
I want to memorize each section.
Know the page number by heart.

I love the way you feel of pressed paper and dry ink.
You are not old or new, but used
and that is beautiful.
I don't care about the others before
and I am not thinking of any after us.

I deeply breath in your scent.
A mix of sweetness and nostalgia.
The dog-eared page and dimples
are my favorite parts.
Each bent corner is another year spent on a full life.
A skin filled with highlighter marks.
I want to read your inner thighs and scribble my own notes.

Tell me your dedication.
Tell me you were once a dream that one person had
and made it into a reality
A ghost that sat in someone's head until
it found a new shell.

And after the adventure ends,
everything to be said has been told,
we will be at a crossroad.
I can't keep you on a shelf,
letting you get dusty.
