A Spoonful

A spoonful.
Sugar.
Honey,
A spoonful of love
Both sweet and soothes the soul
Morning bowl; the glass half full.

The painting that'd depict nourishment,
Instead of incidents souring mouths.
Eyes.
A spoonful of hope.
A spoonful of time.
Close.

Though we've said our grace
Its mostly just a taste
Night peace or dreams when half awake.
Seeds, roots, growth, and belief,
A spoonful of nature,
A spoonful of history.

A spoonful of words.
A spoonful.

I love the juxtaposition of things actually measurable in spoonfuls with things that are not, but are often described as so. Very optimistic piece. Very well written! I like the contrast it seems to have with Salvador Dali's painting you included. Dali's art is so distorted and distopian. Your pairing of such a hopeful poem with his art seems to say there is always light as the end of the tunnel, however dark.

I tried very hard to not let the Mary Poppins spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down melody get in my head, but I failed. Regardless, I liked how you used a spoonful to measure the immeasurable. I also liked the pairing of Dali's clock painting since it felt unusual in it's initial dissimilarity with the poem. Thinking upon it, I realized that the melting of the clock could be more easily "measured" like a spoonful of time.

I kind of love this. I especially like the word choice throughout the whole poem. My favorite parts are the words you use at the end of the “A spoonful of...” lines.

The only part I'm not too sure about is
“Instead of incidents souring mouths.”
I'm not quite sure if incidents is used as a verb or adjective, but I could just be failing at analyzing here.
Also there may be a spelling error. “sooths” should probably be “soothes”.
