Final Judgment

Final Judgment

A Poem by Vic Frederick

You think you hate me,

But your judgment is poisoned with contempt

Displaced upon me is frustration for your own failures

Displaced is your anger that more easily falls upon me

Than upon the truth of who you are

You think you love me,
But your judgment is blinded by selfishness
Love becomes a word to describe a feeling a joy
Love is how you are being made to feel
Rather than a force to bring joy to others

You think you know me,
But your judgment is supercilious
Never into my being have you ventured
Never have you dwelled on that which has shaped me
And explains all that I have become

I think you need me,
Because my judgment makes you think
My love challenges you, my hatred humbles you
My knowledge of who I am inspires you to find yourself
So we can face final judgment together
