Following a path that is already set

In another time penned by a kinder poet,

You would be mine,

Unfettered by the chains that bind you,

Have you not felt me?

In the rustling trees?

Have you not discovered me?

 

Hiding just in the fringes of your memories?

Don't you hear my laughter?

Echoing in your mind?

We have met through lifetimes past,

Our destinies merged into a single path.

Whose map is etched on our very soul.

 

　

Surrender yourself to my siren's song,

And bask in its seductive serenade,

Sink deep in the ocean of my promises,

And let the phantom desires of your heart,

Enshroud you within its beckoning rhapsody.

I've always been fascinated by the sirens, and have referenced them quite a few times in my writing, but I love how you've presented them here and given them a voice that compliments their seductive connotations in a truly unique way...they almost sound lonely here, as if they don't carry the same relevance in recent generations as they have in the past...that was the impression I got from the very first stanza...they're often painted in a negative light, as beings who prey upon weaker and unsuspecting mortals, when really they just want to be recognized...I was totally captivated by this piece...nicely done my friend :)
