when my friend writes a poem

just for my eyes.

when my friend hears me rant 

about stuff no one will ever like.

when my sister paints a picture

that occupies my heart more than you can

Can you make space for yourself?

when my friend crochets me flowers

that I will cherish, for they matter

How am I to lower my standards 

when my sister hates me with her entire heart

because that is the bond we have

It is the unspeakable understanding, love and hate

that people in love share.

Can you match that?

A different lay-out that highlights your emotions and both their award and failures. Time and other people alterbut generally unless life drastically changes, a person learns over the years, feels how that time has altered perception and more understanding of self and others. Perhaps age and experience truly does alter heart and mind into a steady knot of one's mind with the heart. People do love to share, it's knowing with whom its best and safest to share! What an interesting and well laid piece of writing!
