ODE TO FRIENDS

it is a poem i wrote for my friends who are with me through all thick and thin

when i recall the day i first met you
it makes me feel like it was destiny to see you
you have come around like the season of spring
and a lot of promises you bring.

youve touched my heart, my soul and turned it around
i feel like its going round and round
but the time has come for us to prove
that it is not just a seasonal groove
we plan to stick around forever
for better, for worse or whatever

its with you that i laugh
its with you that i cry
its with you that i feel that time flies

you are my strength
you are my weakness
you make me want to stay forever
you make me want to leave never

i so want to turn the time around
i so yearn to feel your presence around
because you gave me strength to carry on
no matter what problem came along
you stood by me through thick and thin
and i know it was true from within

i want you to be with me forever
i want you to let go of me never
because i know no matter what time does
you will push me through with all your thrust

you my friend are the shining light
that guides me through the path of life
you hold my hand, you pull me up
whenever i fall and bite the dust

your friendship to me is so divine
it makes me feel like we were destined
to meet and to fight
and to be together throughout life

though now we are apart
i still feel you around
i carry a part of you safe and sound
it is well hidden from the eyes of the foul

it will never be judged
it will never face trail
as i have faith that will never fail
so my dear friend i ask you too
do you love me as i do you?

this question is not a test i drag you through
it is a mere question i put to you
ill always love you for who you are
because i know that somewhere you are
the person i met on a joyride
who planned to stick around for all my life.

This poem is very sweet and I feel you have your heart behind it. Most poetry is best read aloud to get a feel for the tone and rhythm of it and this flows wonderfully. I also like the repetition within it. Thank you very much for sharing and I look forward to your future posts!
