My April 5th poem for NaPoWriMo 2012

We’re from the government
And we’re here
To help.

To help you stay healthy
With mandates, taxes, and reforms--
It’s your right to be healthy!

To help protect you from yourself
With excise, drug wars, and prohibition--
It’s your right to be protected from yourself!

To help you not be offended
With bleeps and blurs and censorship--
It’s your right to not be offended!

To help you not become a threat
With secrecy and silence and propaganda--
It’s your right to not become a threat!

To help you not have to think
With speeches and pundits and knowing what’s best--
It’s your right to not have to think!

We’re from the government
And we’re here
To help.
