The Measure Of Never

The Measure Of Never

A Poem by Tendai

You could bare your soul in silence, bleed your joy into shadows, fold yourself into shapes just to fit, yet find yourself perpetually worn thin.
You pour your laughter into empty rooms, carry the weight of their broken yesterdays, trying to help, but left for dead.
The world turns, yet you stay stuck.
You could wait through winters without warmth, love with the rage of collapsing skies. You give your all, but nothing shows.. praise is scarce, no love grows. Alone in a crowd, lost in your head, no matter what, you just can't win.
The cruelest truth we learn too late is that your silence, your presence and your pain are not enough. Sometimes, it's not about you at all. Still you keep on, stiff upper lip, even as the road starts to slip.
