Bittersweet Death

Bittersweet Death

A Poem by Anne Lyons
"

Hospital

"

Death. It's silent.  Breath shortening and suddenly life comes to a slow stop.

Each pulse becoming more faint, until death dives in and steals

the last breath, bringing with it silence.  A silence that makes reality set in.

Time simply stands still.  Death has that effect.  Once the time of death is read,

time moves forward.  A life is lost, but the suffering has passed.

Death is bittersweet in that way.
