I Offered Myself to the Night

I Offered Myself to the Night

A Poem by Wesley Dingler

I offered myself to the night.

"Feed on me," I said.
"Feed me,
as you feed on me,
as I feed you,
as I feed on you,"
until we became the snake
that eats its own tail.

"What is to become of us?"
A story only time would tell.
